Mike Semanco serves as President and Chief Operating Officer for Hennessey Capital, which provides innovative working capital solutions and business coaching to small and mid-sized businesses.
Mike has over 18 years of experience in the financial service industry and has been with Hennessey Capital since its formation in 2002. Prior to that, Mike spent over eight years with Crestmark Bank holding various sales and credit positions. Mike began his banking career working with a Detroit-based credit union and local commercial bank while attending college.
A native Detroiter, Mike received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Walsh College in 1991 and a Master of Science degree in Finance in 1999. He remains active with the college and serves on the College’s Board of Trustees. He is also past Board Member of the Alumni Association. Further, Hennessey Capital is a corporate sponsor of the Walsh Business Leadership Institute. Mike was named the Walsh College Distinguished Alumnus in 2006.
Mike is active within the local business community and serves on the Detroit Regional Chamber Board of Directors and as Chairman of its Small Business Advisory Council. He is a Board Member of Citizens Research Council and former Board Member of Crime Stoppers, a regional organization involved with creating safer communities. He is a Director of the Commercial Finance Association, Member of the Association for Corporate Growth and Turnaround Management Association.
Mike was named a Crain’s Detroit Business 40 under 40 Class of 2007 honoree and was also named the 2008 Michigan Financial Services Champion by the Small Business Administration.
Mike has written several articles for and about the commercial finance industry and participates in many panel discussions on small business financing and strategies.
