Toby is Senior Vice President for Hennessey Capital. In this role, he assists in business development with primary responsibility for underwriting and managing Hennessey's asset based loan portfolio.

Toby has over 20 years of experience in commercial lending. His career began with Michigan National Bank in 1986. At Michigan National, Toby held positions in credit management and portfolio administration, including traditional lending, troubled loan workouts, and asset based lending. In 1995, Toby joined Crestmark Bank. During his 10 year career at Crestmark, Toby's responsibilities included underwriting, portfolio management, marketing and product development.

In addition to his commercial lending career, Toby has experience as an entrepreneur. He was a founding member of Steeplechase Software, an Ann Arbor, Michigan based start-up company that developed and sold software for industrial automation. Steeplechase was sold to Schneider Automation in 2000.

Toby speaks frequently on the topic of asset based finance to various community and industry groups. Toby also serves as a mentor to student teams in the annual E2 Adventure business competition.

Toby received a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from Michigan State University in 1985, and a MBA from the University of Michigan in 1993. He was a member of the winning team of U of M's Pryor Award contest for best business plan. He has also served as a coach for the Art of Leadership, which provides leadership training for disadvantaged youth.
